Remove your barriers to Cloud Native success with SecureRoute Pathfinder
SecureRoute Pathfinder Program
-
Define your Pathfinder project.
SecureRoute will work with you to define your Business and Security goals based upon actual needs and your team structure. We will help you model the Standards and Policies you need, and most importantly, how to achieve these. We help to get the most from your security tools and teams, and we know what works in the real world. Let us help you find your way.
-
Prove what works in your Pathfinder project.
Graze your knees and prove your goals of a Cloud Native security project in a safe, controlled way. Use the SecureRoute Pathfinder as you opportunity to build support, recruit champions and see what works in your business.
-
Plan your future success after Pathfinder.
Once we have proven how your new ways of working can actually work in your environment, we build a realistic and achievable future plan for success with you and your stakeholders. Additional Patherfinder phases are then mapped to your business goals. You can follow the plan yourself or engage SecureRoute to help deliver alongside your teams. The choice is yours.
Stage 1 - Definition
We will work with you to define your Business and Security Goals.
Business Goals
Our experts will work with your stakeholders to understand what you are trying to achieve.
Do you want to increase the speed of change as code and images flow through the pipeline
Are you interested in reducing the sprawl of images and tools that are used in the development of applications?
We will also work with you to define teams that can be called into the Pathfinder project to prove the key concepts.
Security Goals
In order to prove the success of the Pathfinder we firstly need to know what your security teams are trying to achieve.
Working together, we will gather the following:
Existing policies or standards relating to software development
Control gates or decision points used in the development pipeline
Architectural view of security tools in place today
Shared Goals
Once we have identified the business and security goals from the wider customer teams, our experts will document and agree these with the Pathfinder project team.
The goals should be sufficient for the Pathfinder team to prove key concepts while offering a view of how these goals can be expanded in the future to accommodate a wider scale out.
Stage 2 - Prove Key concepts
The second stage of the Pathfinder project is to actually prove the concepts and meet the goals defined in Stage 1.
The point to note in this phase is that our experts will be working with your teams to meet the goals, but for a limited audience and with the emphasis on a controlled and supportable implementation of tools and processes.
This is NOT a large scale, wide ranging deployment of your security tooling (that will come later).
Items to prove
We will work with your teams to show how tools and processes can be used in ways which actually work in your business. Typical activities in this stage will be
Deploy your security tooling platform of choice
Complete configuration and integrations necessary for the initial team/application
Implement your security platform with relevant modules as required.
We will also work with you to define teams that can be called into the Pathfinder project to prove the key concepts.
Guiding Principles
The guiding principle of this stage is to test policies and other organizational readiness for a wider deployment in your business in the follow on phases.
Our experts are looking to identify blockers (whether people, process or technology) which need to be tackled prior to a wider rollout.
This phase is about learning what will and will not work and what organizational adjustments will need to be made to ensure success for the wider rollout.
Stage 3 - Plan for rollout
The aim of the first 2 stages is to arrive at a point where you are able to plan for a much wider rollout of your security platform within your business.
At this point you will have the following:
Rollout assets
A defined set of goals (business and security focussed) which are needed to complete in order to prove success
A number of standards and policies which need to be implemented as part of the implementation
An deployed and integrated security platform or toolset
A team and application which is successfully using the security platform to protect their cloud native assets
A number of data points and learning items which have come from the proving phase of the Pathfinder
Expected outcomes
At this stage of the Pathfinder, our experts and your teams should have achieved the following.
Proven key concepts of Cloud Native Security using your security platform or toolset
Mapped your organizational structure, teams and stakeholders
Won stakeholder buy-in for future scale out
Tested policies and ways of working that will be needed for future scale out
Planned for future expansion of the security platform within your environment
Why run a Pathfinder Project?
-
Many organizations fail to achieve success with Cloud Native technology because the business was not prepared for the changes that this will bring to existing technology and ways of working. Take the time to feel your way and learn quickly what will (and importantly) will not work for you.
-
One of the key benefits of a running Pathfinder project in your business is being able to safely test what works for you and your teams. Use the Pathfinder as a way to test your assumptions and decisions without taking unnecessary risks. The Pathfinder environment is a sandpit to test new tools and processes.
-
A DevSecOps program needs a solid foundation of support in order to thrive. You will need to develop and build champions for the changes that need to be made, and Pathfinder allows you to build trust quickly by showing real results in your business.
-
Once you have proved the key concepts for your Pathfinder project, review your future goals and map these to follow on phases of work . Work with us or your own teams to deliver these phases to hit your project milestones.
